Patient Safety is now one of the most important issues facing modern day hospitals both in The UK and Abroad. The recent spurt of infections spreading though wards were a wake-up call for many institutions across the globe. Such a wake-up call led to provisions being put into place to counteract such infections. Medical Ethics come into play here, and the safety of patients should be dealt with through professional and ethical means. According to the Department of Health one in ten patients acquires a HAI, and those who do contract an infection stay in hospital nearly three times longer than ordinary patients, placing tremendous financial pressure on our already strapped-for-cash health services. One of the ways that medical staff such as doctors, nurses, and surgeons are ensuring safety is at its optimum is through using ethical provisions and procedures. One of these provisions is the need to prevent venous thromboembolism, which is a blood clot that forms in the veins. Such clots can be extremely dangerous, and is actually the most common cause of preventable hospital deaths. That’s right, most hospital deaths that could have been stopped are caused by venous thromboembolism. The reason why such clots are so dangerous is essentially because the veins return blood to the heart, and if a piece of a blood clot formed in a vein breaks off it can be transported to the right side of the heart, and from there into the lungs. However, surgical teams, as well as doctors and nurses are now using timelines and plans as a way to keep on top of such clots. Teams of doctors and surgeons are setting goals concerning how different patients should be treated for clots in the veins. By setting goals to treat such things as venous thromboembolism the recovery rate is much higher.

If you feel that you have been subject to poor medical care abroad, it may be worth speaking to The Medical Protection Society

When the word “holiday” is mentioned, it might conjure up different thoughts and feelings for people. Most often when the word, holiday, comes to mind people think about having an enjoyable time while away from work and home. In that vision, you do not even think about having an accident while on your holiday. After all, who plans or wants those to occur. However, sometimes the unthinkable does happen. You or a travelling companion might find themselves a victim of a holiday accident. When these accidents occur, someone else may be liable for any injuries you sustain as well as any medical care you should require. Most people take holidays everyday and are totally unaware of this fact.

Your rights and the law regarding personal injury claims will vary some depending upon where the accident occurred. In the United Kingdom, all normal personal injury laws would apply. On the other hand, should your accident have occurred in another county, you may still obtain the services of a solicitor within the United Kingdom. Many holidays are booked with firms operating within the United Kingdom. Even if the destination is some venue outside of the UK, the important factor is how the trip was arranged. Booking the trip through a UK firm would allow you to file your claim through the agency through which the trip was booked. You would need to show that the accident happened from one of the services used as part of this package.

However, if the injury occurred when participating in an activity that was not part of the package you booked with the travel agency, then they could not be liable. This might include using various facilities not included in the package or perhaps touring a site not included in the travel package. The liability in those situations would fall back on the booking agents at the location or perhaps at the site itself.

There are certain things you must be able to approve in order to receive compensation for your accident. If you have a camera with you, taking photo documentation is a must. It can provide evidence later. Also, write down exactly what happened while it is fresh in your mind. Seek names of any staff at the location that may have been involved or witnessed the situation. Taking this information to your solicitor can be quite helpful.

Holiday accident. Two words that strike fear in the hearts of travellers. What do you do if you have an accident abroad? The answer depends on where you are. If you are travelling in a developed country, find the nearest hospital for emergency treatment. More than likely the only worry will involve your insurance coverage and payment of the bill. If, however, you are in an undeveloped country you may have to fend for yourself. There may not be a hospital within a hundred miles, or, if you find one, they may not agree to treat you without full payment upfront. And if you require transfer back to a hospital in your home country, there may not be facilities available to make it happen. A savvy traveller will check with their insurance carrier to see if they provide coverage outside of their home country, if there are any special deductibles or co-pays and what is involved in a transfer from the travel site back home. A little investigation before you leave home will give you peace of mind and allow you to enjoy every minute of your holiday!

Here are just five things you didn’t know about asbestos. 1) Asbestos is a naturally occurring material. It is a soft, fibrous silicate mineral discovered by the ancient Greeks to have heat resistant properties. 2) The dangers of asbestos were known early in the history of its usage. The ancient Greeks and Romans were aware that slaves worked with asbestos cloth were prone to lung sickness 3) Asbestos is still used in developing countries. Although most developed nations have banned the use of asbestos in new construction projects, it is still widely used in a number of developing nations such as China and India. 4) Symptoms of mesothelioma, the most common asbestos-related disease typically do not appear until between 20 and 50 years after asbestos exposure. In many cases, victims may not even know they were ever exposed to asbestos until after they develop symptoms. 5) Asbestos litigation has involved over 8,400 defendants and 730,000 claimants since the 1960s.The total costs of asbestos compensation litigation in the United States alone is over $250 billion.

Have you recently planned a vacation down to the smallest detail, only to find out that from circumstances out of your control through the flights, accommodation or other means have caused the vacation to become cancelled and are wondering about the next step to receiving the thousands of dollars that is regularly spent on vacations? If so, there are options available as vacation compensation is available to those individuals that have been planning a vacation only to realize that once it has been paid for there have been drastic changes to the plans, or the plans have been cancelled completely.

The first step in trying to recover the funds which were used to book the vacation, or even the vacation itself is to contact the travel company in which the vacation was booked through.

Next, check the itinerary that you were given and the company policies on vacation compensation and other types of compensation that can be given for services that have been paid for and not rendered by the company. In most cases the company will give the vacationer one of two options; the traveler can be provided with accommodations through another flight, hotel or tour, or the traveler can be given a refund which can be used to fund another vacation. These two types of compensation for missed or cancelled vacations are most common and therefore are used in a variety of circumstances, including when the company has had to shut down, or in the case that the area in which is being traveled to is being affected somehow by a natural disaster or something similar.

After you have determined this information it is important to qualify the answer and the actions which have been taken by the company. Have you been compensated for your loss adequately? If not, it may be time to seek alternative options for your claim and finding ways to increase the compensation that you are going to obtain.

While planning an expensive holiday months in advance, it is important for travelers to be aware of the various actions which can cause a disrpition within the holiday plan. Anything from a personal illness or natural disaster can impact the holiday schedule and for this reason it is important to obtain holiday insurance that can be used while traveling to make the most of the holiday schedule.
Luckily, there are many places that holiday insurance can be obtained. Here are some of the popular places that holiday insurance can be purchased and help to protect you while planning your vacation and make it easier to file a claim if anything were to change or your vacation were to become suddenly disrupted.

Holiday insurance can be purchased through travel agents. Even in the case that you have not booked the holiday through the traditional travel agent, there are many companies that can provide an individual with low-cost holiday insurance that can help to protect your interest with a claim being made to various companies regarding lost holidays.

Holiday insurance can be purchased through the airline company in which the flights have been booked. This can help to decrease the costs. In fact, check with the company about their schedule and policies regarding lost holidays and how the claims are held, you may find that you do not require this holiday insurance to protect yourself from a holiday that has been cancelled.

Traditional insurance vendors often have short term and holiday policies available that can help to protect the vacation, in the case that it was to be cancelled. These vendors will have all of the information available that the client can use to file a claim in case the holiday has been lost and can do so quickly and efficiently.

Using these methods, you can purchase holiday insurance and help to ensure that you are able to easily file a claim in case the holiday has been changed, rescheduled or is even cancelled by reasons that are out of your control.

People spend hundreds of thousands of dollars each year planning holidays that they are going to attend with themselves, as well as their families. In some cases, these people aren’t always able to go on the holidays due to unforeseen circumstances, travel advisories, natural disasters and any other type of event which would prevent one from being able to visit a certain area. In some cases, the company that was providing the holiday accommodations is unable to remain in business and the consumer may lose the potential holiday.

You can help yourself to avoid these situations by being prepared and aware and knowing when you are entitled to a holiday compensation claim which can replace the holiday that has been planned or offer compensation for the holiday that has been cancelled through no fault of the person that has made the various reservations.

Here are some keys to know if you are eligible for a holiday compensation claim:

-	You are eligible for a holiday compensation claim in the case that your flight, hotel, cruise or tour has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, under no control of yourself. As long as you did not initiate the action of cancelling the holiday, than you could be entitled to a partial or full claim for the holiday that has been booked.
-	Eligibility is based on travel reservations that were made, travel reservations that have been paid in full and travel reservations that are not fulfilled by the company that is offering the service. For example, if the consumer books a flight and then the flight company is unable to fly to a certain area for a variety of reasons.
Keeping these reasons in mind, it is important to remember that each time your travel plans are changed or cancelled then you could be entitles to a holiday compensation claim.

Holiday insurance can help to protect the traveler in a variety of situations while on the holiday, but did you know that it can also help to protect you in the case that you are unable to attend the holiday or the holiday is cancelled for various reasons from the persons or company that is providing the accommodations through the vacation?

Holiday insurance can be obtained through a variety of locations. In the case that you are booking a vacation through a travel agent, these travel agents are often able to provide holiday insurance at a fraction of the cost of traditional commercial insurance providers.
What does basic holiday insurance cover? Most basic holiday insurance plans will cover the transportation and the accommodations while on the trip and allow the individual to make the most of the claim by rebooking the holiday, with the amount covered in full. This occurs most often in the case that a transportation or accommodation provider in which the holiday is booked was unable to provide the services that have been paid for. This company will often refund the money to the travel agent or to the individual and allow the individual to make plans elsewhere. Alternatively, the company may provide alternative means of transportation or accommodation, which was outlined as one of the terms in the holiday insurance.

There are many things that can happen while planning a holiday, as many holidays are planned well in advance. It is important to take advantage of holiday insurance as it can help make the process of creating a claim and being compensated for a holiday that has been lost so much easier.

Holidays are an expensive purchase and can be devastating in the case that the individual is unable to attend the holiday, or the holiday company or airline has an occurrence that makes it difficult to travel. In these cases, holiday insurance and even travel companies can provide compensation for the holiday that has been lost. After all, most holidays are several thousand dollars, and consumers cannot simply forget about this money after it has been spent to plan a vacation for themselves, or their families.

There are many ways that one could go about claiming compensation for the holiday that has been lost. The first way is to ensure that travel insurance or holiday protection had been purchased for the holiday. This will allow the individual to make a quick and speedy claim that can allow the individual to have their money returned, or a voucher can be obtained to plan the holiday in the future.

The next option that the individual has while claiming compensation for a lost holiday includes dealing directly with the travel agency, airline or hotel in the case that it had been pre-paid to determine the possible options of recovering the funds which were spent to make the accommodation. This way, it can be easy to avoid claims, rather, if the individual is able to be refunded by the company that was able to book the holiday directly.

In the case that these options fail, there are many lawyers and solicitors that can be used to create a claim against the company or travel accommodation providers, which can help to have the money, refunded which was spent while planning the holiday. Choose a lawyer with experience in these types of claims to obtain the best results and recover the money that had been spent on the holiday.
