Need for holiday insurance cover

Holiday accident. Two words that strike fear in the hearts of travellers. What do you do if you have an accident abroad? The answer depends on where you are. If you are travelling in a developed country, find the nearest hospital for emergency treatment. More than likely the only worry will involve your insurance coverage and payment of the bill. If, however, you are in an undeveloped country you may have to fend for yourself. There may not be a hospital within a hundred miles, or, if you find one, they may not agree to treat you without full payment upfront. And if you require transfer back to a hospital in your home country, there may not be facilities available to make it happen. A savvy traveller will check with their insurance carrier to see if they provide coverage outside of their home country, if there are any special deductibles or co-pays and what is involved in a transfer from the travel site back home. A little investigation before you leave home will give you peace of mind and allow you to enjoy every minute of your holiday!
